Polymer-armored well tubing strings represent polymer-armored flexible multilayer piping intended for oil extraction using electric centrifugal pump.

Structure of the tubing strings may vary depending on the operation conditions and necessity to perform specified functions. The internal diameter may vary from 30 to 45 mm considering the operation conditions. Operating pressure is up to 100 atm.

Well tubing strings are supplied with upper and lower tips. Patent protection of the design on the territory of Russia is ensured.

Polymer-armored well tubing strings are produced in accordance with the technical specifications of the manufacturer basing on the TU compliance certificate.

Well tubing strings represent polymer-armored flexible multilayer piping.

Well tubing strings have the following structure:

  • Core – polymeric layer which ensures undamaged condition of the transported fluid. The core is made by continuous extrusion from the compositions based on the low pressure polyethylene.

  • Reinforcing layer – structural component comprising several layers of metal tape wrapped over in the opposite directions which enhances resistance of the flexible pipe to internal and external pressure and to mechanical collapse load.

  • Armor layer – structural component comprising two lays of metal wire, wrapped over in the opposite directions which is intended for taking up axial tensile loads.

  • Anti-wear layer – non-metal layer in the form of tape wrapping intended for reduction of wear between the layers.

  • Electrical layer – structural component comprising segments with electric power and signal conductors.

  • Outer sheath – polymeric layer intended for protection of reinforcing elements from corrosion, abrasive and mechanical damage and for retaining the elements in the position predetermined by shaping. The outer sheath is made by continuous extrusion from the compositions based on the low pressure polyethylene.

Polymer-armored tubing strings as compared to metal tubing stings have the following advantages:

  • possibility of manufacture of larger end-to-end dimensions and consequently reduction of the number of joints;

  • absence of butt joints, which mitigates the risk of formation of hydrates;

  • the weight is less than the weight of a steel pipe and, respectively, the load on the wellhead fittings is less;

  • lowering into the well is possible without killing the well ;

  • service life is longer than that of steel piping;

  • absence of all types of corrosion, so there is no need in cathodic protection and thus minimum maintenance;

  • polymer –armored tubing strings withstand contact with water and are resistant to the majority of aggressive media;

  • flow capacity of the polyethylene piping does not deteriorate in the course of time;

  • polymer –armored tubing strings are not toxic.
